Westbahnhof station is located in Vienna's 15th District. Trains offer connections from Vienna to Salzburg. Four trains connect Vienna to Munich, seven daily direct trains run from Vienna to Zurich and also trains go from Vienna to Frankfurt. One night train goes to Berlin and six night trains make a transfer from Vienna to Budapest.
Westbahnhof is on U-Bahn lines U3 and U6, and many trams stop outside. With the establishment of the long-planned Hauptbahnhof (main station), the Westbahnhof will lose some of its significance.

Vienna Sudbahnhof station trains connect Vienna to Rome (via Klagenfurt, Venice and Florence), there are trains going from Vienna to Bratislava and there are also day trains that go from Vienna to Prague.
Trams D go to the Ring and Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof and Trams O - to Wien Mitte and Praterstern. Transfer from Sudbahnhof station to Westbahnhof train station is by tram 18, or the S-Bahn to Meidling and then the U6.

Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof train station handles regional and local trains, including to Tulln, Krems an der Donau, and the Wachau region. From outside, tram D goes to the Ring, and tram 5 goes to Westbahnhof.

Smaller Vienna stations Wien Mitte, Wien Nord and Meidling have U-Bahn stops and the former two have connections from Vienna to Vienna airport.
