Tour of Aranjuez and Chinchón

Tour of Aranjuez and Chinchón

An old town with historical and artistic interest, royal palaces and gardens on the banks of the River Tagus shape the layout in Aranjuez. This layout shows an exquisite balance between nature and man, watercourses and garden design, forests and royal architecture. For all these reasons, in 2001 UNESCO declared Aranjuez a Cultural Landscape. Other popular attractions are “El tren de la fresa” (Strawberry Train) and Fiestas del motín de Aranjuez, a recreation of the mutiny occurred in 1808.

Chinchón is one of the most picturesque villages and with more personality in the Community of Madrid. Despite being so close to the Spanish capital city it still retains its uniqueness: brown, gray and ochre landscapes; clusters of houses grouped into hills that shelter its singular Plaza Mayor; and intricate alleys that run through this village life and history.
